I told the class today (March 6, 2012) that I thought it would be a good idea to check my website under the "homework" for the day to make sure that I will be in school that particular day for extra help. If I feel ill, I will post that extra help is cancelled for that day. I worry that a student will be coming to see me before school at 7:30 am and I will be out sick and not be able to help that student. In order to void students being left at school at 7:30 am by parents thinking their child will be meeting with me for extra help, I will post that the extra help session is cancelled. So, I told students to check my website to confirm that I'll be in school in the morning before they leave their house in the morning. Nothing has happened yet where someone was coming for extra help and I was not available, but I think it is better to be safe than sorry and try to put a policy in place so no one is left guessing if I'll be available.
I am usually available for extra help either before school (7:30 am to 8:00 am) or after school (3:05 pm to 3:50 pm) two to four times a week and daily at lunctime.
